Matthew Dolan Motorcycle Accident: The Leesburg community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Matthew Dolan, a 20-year-old whose life was tragically cut short in a motorcycle accident Thursday morning. The crash occurred at the intersection of Lee Street and U.S. Highway 441, where a vehicle reportedly turned left into Matthew’s path. Despite wearing a helmet and receiving extensive emergency care, Matthew succumbed to his injuries.
Matthew was initially transported to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, where doctors, nurses, medics, and helicopter personnel fought tirelessly for more than 90 minutes to stabilize him. He was later airlifted to Ocala Regional Trauma Center, but despite the trauma team’s best efforts, he passed away.
His grandfather, Don Keister, expressed deep gratitude for the medical teams who battled to save Matthew’s life, writing,
“Matthew, my first grandchild, was riding his motorcycle this morning in Leesburg when a car turned left at Lee St. and Hwy 441 into his path. He was transported to UF of Leesburg ER where the doctors, nurses, medics, and helicopter crew worked very hard for over 1.5 hours to stabilize him. He was then transported to Ocala Regional Trauma Center where they worked very hard to save him, but he passed away from all of his injuries. He will be terribly missed.”
Matthew was the son of Michael and Dawn Dolan, members of a highly respected Leesburg family known for their businesses—Holiday Marine, Lake Harris Boat Rentals, and Adventure Boat Share. His stepmother, Dawn, shared the devastating news online, writing,
“Our son has gone to be with Jesus. Thank you everyone for praying. We are heartbroken.”
Authorities temporarily closed Lee Street as investigators examined the crash scene.
